Message From Our President

Hi to all members and friends of ALNT,

I just want to say Happy New Year!!! We have a new year and decade upon us and I see nothing but good things in our future.

We have a lot of real good classes coming in for our meetings. At our meetings we are going to start video taping and keep the files in a virtual libaray on a computer so that members that miss a meeting can ask for a disk of that class. This way no one that is a active member will miss out on the education.

Also I had spoke about a referal list a while back on the phone with some of the board of directors. The way I think this it should work is that the members who want to be on the referral list could fill out a form that will let other members everyone know services they can perform and the where they will go to perform the work. In a month or so we can give all members a list so that if there is a job that they cannot take, they can pass on the contact info to someone who can. In doing so, we will be helping each other the customers who would otherwise be turned away, letting all parties know we care about each other and our customers. You may still make a customer by referring them to someone who can help them more effecitvely for a specific job. Some companies play the numbers game and all they care about is that they get a customer once. Wwe are all small businesses, and most of us do not want to get big, but we can most likely stay afloat and survive slow times if we help each other out.

The way I see it, we are all friends. Sure we have our differences, and that is a very good thing, but WE HAVE TO THANK AND SUPPORT OUR SUPPLIERS for helping us put on the Christmas Party. To those at Han's, Acme, Flake, HPC, Jet, TNL Mag., Ilco, and anyone else who has supported us over the last year - a very big THANK YOU.

I have also thought of a way that will promote us and help to put down the scammers is that use our name. It can be somethding like the dairy manufactures use: Real, Educated, and Licenced, "REAL" for short. By adding this to all of our phone book ads, we could tell people to look for REAL ALNT locksmiths to help to weed out scammers. We could charge a small fee for this that will help pay for the ad. I do think that this will help to put the scammers out of business and position legitimate ALNT locksmiths in a stronger position than ever.

We have a very good meeting coming up this month with John Arnold providing an access control class and JMA coming to give us a few minutes of their time. JMA wants to join ALNT as an Associate Member. So lets welcome them on board. It has been a long time coming.

Like I have been saying for a long time, if you can think of anyone that we can teach or bring in for a class let the board know. We are here for you and we cannot think of everything. Also, if you any ideas that can help us do a better job and be the best we can be, let us know. We are still working on photo ID's and will be taking more at the begining of each meeting. We will keep doing it at all the meetings in the future.

MEMBERS ONLY SECTION OF THIS WEB SITE

ALNT members can log into the Member's Only section by clicking the "Members Only Log-In" link at the top of the left column of this page. You will need your ALNT membership number to enter.

Members Only is going to be a valuable tool for members. Some portions are still under construction, but they will be completed soon. It includes:

• Five member forums for discussion and posting information.

• Your Profile lets you make sure ALNT has your latest contact information(no one can view your information but you)

• Your Education lets you keep track of the classes you have taken.

• Change Password lets you change your Members Only password for more security. (this feature is under construction)

• ALNT By-Laws

Note: Currently to add a photo to a forum message, you have to link it from another site. I know that is inconvenient for many of you. I am working on making it possible to upload photos to the ALNT site. So, please have patience. I felt it was important to get these forums up and running quickly rather than waiting until the photo upload issue was fixed.
